[bash] ultimo file in ftp

Ciao ragazzi,
accedo in FTP a un server. Dovrei prendere il file più recente tramite un get.
se proò scrivo
ls -t1 | head --line=1
non me lo accetta. Noto che ls -t1 fa vedere tutte queste informazioni
e non solo i nomi dei file come farebbe da una qualsiasi bash!
come posso risolvere!?

e non solo i nomi dei file come farebbe da una qualsiasi bash!
