ADSL non funziona

Ieri ho deciso di tentare nuovamente l´avventura con Slackware9.1, ho fatto l´installazione completa ed ha persino funzionato subito la mia audigy, che tempo fa non ero riuscito assolutamente a far partire.

<BR>Ho eseguito "adsl-setup" da root, ho compilato a dovere tutti i campi (uso i DNS di Alice), tuttavia non funziona "adsl-start", viene dato un errore di timeout.

<BR>Ho letto il tutorial di questo sito, la procedura è identica, DNS compresi, però non funge.

<BR>L´unica discrepanza è che ho due schede di rete, eth0 e eth1, la prima integrata nella motherboard, al momento inutilizzata, la seconda collegata al modem esterno in comodato d´uso.

figurati se il fatto che usi eth1 è un problema x linux... io ho 3 eth (tutte pure di tipo diverso) e funzionano tutte come dovrebbero, anche quando alcune sono staccate... e ci mancherebbe!

<BR>forse il tuo problema è causato da un´errata impostazione del modem. dicci che modello è e cercheremo di aiutarti.

Mi fa piacere sapere che anche se la eth0 non è utilizzata ciò non comporta minimamente un ostacolo al funzionamento del modem ADSL collegato alla eth1.

Basta che configuri l´adsl-setup e lanci adsl-start...
<BR>Però so che alcuni modem gestiscono più sevizi,se è così devi configurare a mano e specificare il nome del servizio (mi è capitato ad esempio sul 3com home connect dual link).

La seconda domanda di adsl-setup è "INTERFACE" di default ti mette eth0 l´hai cambiato quel parametro ?<br>

Dunque:
<BR>- ho specificato eth1 al relativo passaggio di adsl-setup;
<BR>- adsl-setup seguito da adsl-start non è bastato.

<BR>- ho notato che ifconfig mostra solo "lo", ossia il loopback;
<BR>- ifconfig -a mostra oltre al loopback anche eth0 e eth1;
<BR>- ho provato a ripetere adsl-setup/start dopo aver fatto ifconfig eth1 up;
<BR>- ho riprovato anche attivando eth0.

<BR>se ti risponde, significa che il problema è nel dns, a questo punto basta toccare resolv.conf
<BR>anke se dubito che il problema sia quello.. occorre innanzi tutto che ifconfig veda le tre interfacce (eth0 eth1 e loopback) o almeno quella del modem x sperare in qualcosa del genere..

ma se fai ifconfig eth1 up, poi la vedi in ifconfig? in caso contrario evidentemente non hai compilato il supporto x la tua scheda di rete. se invece la vedi, assicurati che NON abbia un ip assegnato. se riesci pastaci tutto quel che compare dopo che fai adsl-start (puoi farlo ad esempio con adsl-start 2>&1 | tee log, poi sposti il log sulla partizione windows e ce lo incolli da lì).<br>

Slackware 9.1 inverte i riferimenti delle schede di rete.
<BR>Siccome ne ho una integrata e una PCI, anzichè essere eth1 la PCI è eth0.<br>
