14.1: il server X crasha

Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

14.1: il server X crasha

Appena installata, ma per la prima volta ho dei guai.
Finito il caricamento, lancio X. Sembrache carichi,
poi va in crash e lamenta la mancanza di libreria di KDE
o dei path sbagliati. In dmasg ecc non trovo il però log
di questo errori. Che sia andata male l'installazione?

Se va male X devi vedere il suo log sotto /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Ma allora non è X che crasha ma qualche applicazione KDE o KDE stesso. Di quali moduli lamenta l'assenza?

Se ti appaiono scritte in output (presumo tu sia in init 3), reindirizza startx in un file di testo e postalo.

se l'installazione e' full prova un DE diverso,magari hai un downlod corrotto.

ho provato a reindirizzare il comando a un file di log: vuoto!
adesso provo un diverso DE. comunque l'md5sum della ISO è corretto.

xfce si avvia correttamente. provo a reinstallare KDE,
forse qualcosa è andato storto....

Dal log sembra che KDE lamenti la mancanza di libXxf86vm.

Hai controllato se hai tale libreria installata?

Dopo una settimana troppo densa di impegni esterni, eccomi di nuovo qui.
Ho verificato la ISO scaricata: md5sum corrispondente. Ho rimasterizzato
con verifica con K3b, ho formattato e reinstallato. Idem come sopra.
Ho installato a mano la libreria mancante, ma denuncia la mancanza
di altre librerie e/o di link simbolici. E mentre fbox parte, KDE va in crash.
Davvero non capisco...

Ciao a tutti. Stesso problema. Dopo anni felici con la 12.2 decido di provare la 14.1. Scarico la 32-bit. Formatto una partizione ext4 per l'installazione del nuovo sistema. Installo. Avvio KDE e ho crash di X. Avvio XFCE e parte senza problemi, ma appena clicco sull'icona di Firefox nel pannello ho di nuovo un crash. Ho una scheda grafica Nvidia integrata con processore GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 e ho avviato il kernel huge-smp. Potrebbe essere il driver Nouveau a dare problemi? Pensavo anche a un difetto dell'hard diisk nella nuova partizione, ma ho fatto un check e non ho errori. Sono troppo vecchio per queste cose... Un altro esperimento che ho fatto: avvio XFCE e lancio Calligra e funziona. Avvio Kubrik sempre sotto XFCE e X crasha. ldd kubrik non mi segnala librerie mancanti. Mi dispiace perché non mi era mai successo prima con Slackware. Ho formattato e rinunciato alla 14.1, per il momento.
