problemi con driver ati su slack 12.2

Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

Io installavo i pacchetti in un'altro modo (sicuramente sbagliato), così "./atidriverxxxx --install"
La scheda video è agp quindi riproverò ad installare i driver 8.x... così:
sh atidriver-8xxx.run --buildpkg
e installpkg,
La mia domanda è visto che ho installato i driver a mio modo, come faccio a disinstallarli?

ciao bella domanda, prova vedere nell'help del comando forse hanno messo un opzione --uninstall o --remove, dal log sembra che tu non abbia una section "Device" corretta nel tuo xorg.conf e oltretutto ti carica il modulo radeon invece di fglrx prova a fare così metti una section device simile alla mia

nella sezione monitor setti le frequenze del monitor in base al tuo monitor , io uso una modeline in realtà (al momento tu lascia commentato sia DisplaySize sia Modeline) ovviamente l'identifier "My Monitor" deve essere identico al Monitor "My Monitor" della section "Screen", infine c'è la section ServerLayout

qua potresti dover aggiungere delle cose per quanto riguarda le InputDevice, l'importante è che "Screen 1" sia uguale all'Identifier della section "Screen", io c'ho un mouse usb che richiede una sezione InputDevice a parte ma forse a te non serve fai sta roba poi guarda cosa ti dice il log di Xorg, ovviamente credo avrai capito è fondamentale che i vari Identifier siano corretti all'interno dello xorg.conf (anche per le altre sezioni tipo InputDevice ecc ecc) ovviamente tutto sto discorso è inutile se non riesce a caricarti il modulo fglrx con un banale modprobe, se proprio non riesci ad installare sti benedetti catalyst edita il campo Driver nella section "Device" e al posto di fglrx prova a mettere "radeon"

prova a mettere BusID PCI:1:0:0 senza quegli zeri in più, comunque tu stai usando il driver "radeon" e non "fglrx"

Se stai cercando di usare i driver ATI proprietary, nella sezione "Device" devi metterci:

Codice: Seleziona tutto

Driver      "fglrx"
e non

Codice: Seleziona tutto

Driver      "radeon"

Ho cambiato la parte Driver "radeon" con Driver "fglrx"
poi ho provato tutte le combinazioni, togliendo e mettendo gli zeri, nella parte BusID PCI:x1:x2:x3 ho anche messo il punto al posto dei 2 punti tra x2 e x3 come l'originale, sono riuscito a copiare il debug di ./ati-driver-installer-9-1-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Slackware/Only_Module..
è questo:
ATI Technologies Linux Driver Installer/Packager
ln: creating symbolic link x700: Operation not permitted
ln: creating symbolic link x700_64a: Operation not permitted

...Non riesco a reindirizzare l'output di startx per mostrarvi gli errori.. comunque non trova una libreria..
Come posso fare a reindirizzare l'output io ho fatto "startx >> slackeu"...

Questo vuol dire che devi eseguire il comando in una directory il cui nome non contiene spazi, tipo la directory /tmp.

P.S. Dai al comando l'opzione '--buildpkg' e basta, creati tutti e due i pacchetti non solo quello del modulo

E lo dici a me strano!..Ieri l'ho tutto configurato, sono andato a letto alle 4, mi sa che io non ho provato a mettere sh all'inizio del comando però...Quale può essere il problema, ora ho guardato l'xorg.conf di ubuntu e come la maggior parte dei file di configurazione fa schifo.. Mentre invece ieri notte quando ho provato da solo a ripristinare x ho copiato l'xorg.conf da BackTrack che è più simile, ma non partiva neanche così.. Ho già riavviato più di 20 volte.. cosa posso fare [-o<

Ho provato con l'xorg.conf dato da spina ma niente,
ho provato ad installare i driver in una directory con percorso senza spazi e i 9.1 mi danno un' output andato a buon fine...
mentre quelli 8.x (ne ho provato 2 tipi) mi danno un'errore in tutti e due i casi
Poi ho provato "modprobe fglrx" come suggerito da spina e mi restituisce:
FATAL: Module fglrx not found.
Cosa posso fare :cry: :)

Se il modprobe va male, allora vuol dire che non hai installato il modulo. Devi cercare di andare con ordine:
  • elimina qualsiasi cosa tu abbia installato dei driver ati (hai dei pacchetti? eliminali)
  • copia l'installer ATI (il 9.1) nella directory /tmp
  • vai nella directory /tmp e lancia:

    Codice: Seleziona tutto

    sh installer.run --buildpkg Slackware/All
  • se i pacchetti vengono generati (sono due), installali e poi lancia:

    Codice: Seleziona tutto

    startx
  • se i pacchetti non vengono generati, posta l'output del builder che vediamo perchè non vengono generati
Non provare 100 cose altrimenti rischi solo di incasinare il filesystem.

Lo so che sta andando male e sto incasinando tutto, ma l'output di ./atiXX non mi dà l'opzione remove e non so come rimuovere tutto, oltre a questo se faccio
"atiXXX --buildpkg" mi manda all'help
se invece lancio:
"atiXXX --buildpkg Slackware/Only_Module" mi genera solo un pacchetto e non due..
Questo è la parte da considerare dell'help:

Codice: Seleziona tutto

  --install                                       Install the driver(default)
  --listpkg                                      List all the generatable packages 
  --buildpkg package                      Build "package" if generatable ("package" as returned by --listpkg)
  --buildandinstallpkg package        Build and Install "package" as returned by --listpkg
