Certo che si!! Al momento ho poco tempo da dedicare all'acerone quindi sarebbe fantastico avere un kernel già compilato. Se vuoi mi presto per i test.

La cosa buona e che se parte con la schedina dentro lo slot "Storage Expansion" crea anche le device mmcblk0 e relativa mmcblk0p1 (nel kernel ho messo i supporti built in apposta).

Accetto volentieri suggerimenti.
Suggerimento 1: Installa Slackware e vivi felice tanto con Linpus non vai da nessuna parte. E' rapido anche KDE quindi non ci sono vincoli sulla scelta del DE.
Suggerimento 2: Mandami il kernel così vedo un po' se manca qualche dispositivo. :)

Allora appena posso pubblico il tutto...

Per il DE, mi sono già ricompilato (ergo pacchettizato) LXDE, anche se KDE mi tenta. L'unico difetto che kde lavora molto in /tmp (certo potrei dargli il punto di mount in memoria).

Di fatto c'ho messo un po per pacchettizzarlo, e mi scoccerebbe non dargli neanche una possbilità. In fondo i primi test non erano male, è leggero e occupa poco.

L' SSD ha 8gb di memoria, in più ho comprato una schedida SD da 4 gb che volevo utilizzare come /home, che oltre a tenermi al sicuro di dati personali, se si rompe la cambio con 8 euro, e rende molto facile il sync con i dati dell'altro portatile.

In effetti sento molto la mancanza di Slackware sull'acer one. Linpus dopo un po' da veramente sui nervi....

Sto raccogliendo un po' di documentazione per un progetto sui netbook che stiamo portando avanti io ed un mio amico http://www.fsugitalia.org/netslack/ .

Per ora c'è poca roba, ma mi sono permesso di linkare anche il tuo lavoro su slack 12.2 (anche se devo ancora finire di metterlo apposto.)

Allora, il kernel è disponibile su un pacchetto che ho pubblicato qui....

Di base ci sono dei link simbolici vmlinuz, config, system.map, quindi cautela quando lo installate (al limite decomprimete e poi installate a mano). All'interno ci sono anche i moduli

Mi raccomando, provatelo solo se sapete cosa state facendo, ed è ovviamente rilasciato senza alcuna garanzia.

Sto preparando anche la usbimg per fare l'installazione via usb con quel kernel.

Avrei bisogno di un debug un po' più dettagliato....

Del tipo... che periferiche funzionano, quali no, tempi di caricamento, problemi... insomma un po' di benchmarking... te ne sarei grato.

Ah dimenticavo... non è che tireresti su il file xorg.conf completo.... tra l'altro non ho trovato ne synaptic ne libsynaptic, ma solo xf86-input-synaptics-0.15.2-i486-1.

Andrà bene lo stesso?

Più che altro, eliminando il modulo psmouse, non lo si perde sulla shell non grafica?

Si! xf86-input-synaptics-0.15.2-i486-1 è l'unico necessario. Gli altri due: Synaptic e libsynaptic sono della 12.1 #-o . Ora sistemo la guida.

Eliminare il modulo psmouse non crea effetti collaterali di sorta.

Questa notte posterò i risultati dettagliati del test del kernel.

Tempo d'avvio identico al kernel di Linpus: 1m04s

- Wireles: funziona diversamente. Wicd legge valori di ricezione più bassi del solito ed inoltre ci sono rari picchi assurdi (240%). Il led non si accende ma l'interruttore -ovvio è HW- si.
- Audio: funziona con la sola eccezione del microfono
- Lettore SD/MMC: i 2 lettori non danno segni di vita (testato solo schede SD).
- Synaptic: OK.
- Suspend2RAM: OK
- Ibernazione: KO. Non fa testo dato che lo script Hibernate da me installato è accoppiato alla patch del kernel di Linpus.
- Ethernet: non testato.
- ReiserFS: OK.

In linea di massima non ho riscontrato né blocchi né rallentamenti. I comportamenti anomali si sono limitati al wireless.

Fammi sapere se vuoi dei log o test particolari.

Dallo stesso kernel ho avuto risultati simili, ma non identici....

- WiCD - Livelli di segnale che oscillano molto di più del normale (dal 24% al 120%), sempre con wicd. Ovviamente niente LED.
- Audio: Funziona tutto, provato microfono con skype e va... magari dovevi rifare l'alsaconf.
- Lettore MMC: Quello di destra non lo so, ma quello di sinistra lo uso con una scheda SD che utilizzo come /home, e direi che va benone (essendo built in non cercherei troppo l'inserimento a caldo).
- ReiserFS: Non funzionava nelle versione che ho dato a te, l'ho corretta succesivamente.
- Hibernate: Non deve funzionare... ho tolto volontariamente il supporto
- Ethernet: C'ho fatto tutta l'installazione e funziona.
- Suspend to RAM: Non me ne sono preoccupato.
- Synaptics: Va il mouse, ma senza scroll (Penso dipenda dal mio Xorg, per questo avevo chiesto il tuo)

Inoltre ho ultimato una pacchettizazione decente di LXDE, e lo sto testando... apparte il sensore della temperatura va tutto, ma ci devo ancora lavorare.

Curiosamente il lilo non fa storie.

Piccole note. A differenza di altri, non solo non ho messo il bootsplash, ma neanche il framebuffer... con la normale vga si legge molto meglio il terminale, e per il resto c'è X

Il lettore MMC non va proprio, forse perchè abbiamo l'HD diverso. Farò altri test.
ReiserFS funziona sicuramente con la versione che mi hai dato. Ho la partizione ReiserFS è la mia /home.

Perchè niente hibernate? Vuoi abilitare altri metodi di sospensione su disco o ci sono motivi particolari per cui non ti interessa la sospensione su disco?

Sono perfettamente d'accordo con te, nel wiki ho scritto del bootsplash solo per sfruttare una feature già presente nel kernel.
Anche io trovo più comodo il terminale così com'è ;)

Grazie, lo provo quanto prima... vuoi ridere.. ho rivisto quel conf ed ho visto che reiser è modulare, quindi se la usassi per una root non funzionerebbe.... a meno di un initrd.

Per l'ibernazione invece, avendo il SSD, non mi voglio arrischiare con una swap

Ti comunico che ho ultimato la versione "-3" di quel kernel (la "-2" a fronte di un iniziale funzionamento, al successivo riavvio ha dato solo problemi). Di fatto devo arrendermi all'idea che devo realizzare due kernel distinti, uno per usbboot.img, e l'altro per il funzionamento comune da mettere in tgz. Quest'ultimo nella versione "-3" sembra funziare benone, ma con alcune carenze.

Considera che alcune di queste modifiche però sono state fatte per eeepc, mentre altre per tutti... il risultato dovrebbe essere quello di un kernel per slackware per netbook (acer e asus al momento).

Vorrei che fosse possibile lavorare su altri netbook, e vorrei fare un'annuncio su questo forum per chiedere tester, ma, essendo una cosa che portiamo avanti esternamente su fsigitalia, non vorrei che gli admin mi stacchessero la testa.
