Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

[RISOLTO]Errore startx

Ciao
Ho appena installato Slackware 13 seguendo questa guida:

Tutto bene; prima di modificare il file inittab volevo lanciare il comando startx per vedere come funzionava ma nulla mi compare il seguente errore:
xinit:no such file or directory (errno2)
xinit:no such process (errno3)
premetto che sto installando il tutto su un ASUS Eee PC e ho provato tramite il comando xwmconfig a impostare sia xinitrc.xfce che xinitrc.kde
ma nulla non ne vuole sapere

da init 3 dopo il log in prova startxfce4 presumendo che hai messo su l'ultimo xfce...

Esiste un file /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Se sì, postane il contenuto (tra tag code, mi raccomando).

Secondo me non hai installato alcuni pacchetti "indispensabili"...
fbdev è contenuto nel pacchetto xorg-server, mentre i810 nel pacchetto xf96-video-intel.
Prova a reinstallarli (o tramite slackpkg o tramite il CD/DVD di installazione) e riprova.

Niente da fare
Ho provanto una reinstallazione full ma da ancora lo stesso errore e lo stesso Xorg.0.log

C'è qualcosa che tocca, allora.
Stai usando un file /etc/X11/xorg.conf? Se sì, prova a spostarlo in modo che non venga più letto e lascia che X si configuri da solo (nella 12.2 questo non succedeva ed il file xorg.conf era obbligatorio).
Quei messaggi di errore in Xorg.0.log mi fanno venire in mente un'altra cosa: non è che stai usando un kernel a 32 bit con le librerie a 64 bit?

il file xorg.conf non esiste, vi è un file xorg.conf-vesa
Per la seconda domanda faccio un pò fatica a risponderti ho scaricato il dvd da ftp.slackware e l'ho installato ma non mi ha chiesto quello che mi chiedi

se fino a init 3 ci arrivi, dopo in log in sempre in console dai, uname -a, cosi vediamo cosa hai messo su..

Mi sa che tu abbia lasciato fuori dall'installazione praticamente tutto X, dato che molti pacchetti di X installano dei file in alcune sottodirectory di /etc/X11.
Fai una cosa, monta il DVD dell'installazione (o la sua immagine) e installa tutti i pacchetti sotto slackware/x:

upgradepkg --install-new /path/del/dvd/slackware/x/*.t?z
Ovviamente per eseguire tale comando devi essere root ed aver preventivamente montato il DVD/ISO in un qualche percorso.
La seconda domanda che ti ho posto in precedenza era per sapere se hai installato un mix di pacchetti a 32 e a 64 bit sul sistema. Te l'ho chiesto perché Xorg poteva fallire il caricamento dei moduli se questi erano a 64 bit mentre il tuo kernel è a 32 bit (non sono compatibili, mentre il viceversa può esserlo).
Dato che non hai neanche la directory /etc/X11, direi che il problema è un altro (ovvero, la totale mancanza di quei pacchetti e non una loro incompatibilità).

scusa mi correggo la directory esiste manca solo il file ma in compenso trovo un xorg.conf-vesa

Col comando uname -a mi compare questo
