problema con wpa_supplicant e ipw [RISOLTO]

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata e la versione del Kernel. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

problema con wpa_supplicant e ipw [RISOLTO]

ciao a tutti,

premetto che ho seguito le strategie di 3 diversi forum (compreso slacky ovviamente 8) ) per cercare di far funzionare il mio wpa_supplicant sul mio sony vaio vgn-s3xp, ma risultati zero; credo di aver commesso un errore veramente scemo alla base della configurazione e per questo mi sto dannando (es: mi manca qualcosa nel kernel!?!?)

premetto che sono abbastanza nuovo del mondo linux,
ma mi è piaciuto subito! ora mi rode da morire perchè
finchè il problema sotto linux permane,
sono costretto a usare windows :( :? :(

riguardo il tutorial di bruno mendola http://bruno.infopa.net/linux/s3xp_linux.html :
proprio grazie a questo tutorial sono riuscito a lasciare windows e passare a linux;
è uno dei 3 siti che ho seguito per installare wireless e wpa_supplicant con il risultato che mi riuscivo a collegare esclusivamente a reti aperte.
Reti wep non ho provato.


Altre prove:
per ingannare l'attesa e provare a caso un pò di configurazioni possibili (non si mai...) ho provato a cambiare l'interfaccia di interrogazione, ad esempio attivandola prima ecc

continuo le prove a rete aperta: TUTTO OK

salve ragazzi,


ho continuato le prove con la rete aperta senza crittografia alcuna: va una meraviglia.

mentre con wpa-psk continua a non funzionare niente.

con il driver wext continua a dirmi che non esiste questo driver :-/

Come già descritto qui anch'io mi ritrovo ad affrontare un problema simile al tuo: con la versione 1.2.1 dei driver ipw2200 e la 1.12.16 del subsystem ieee80211, non c'è verso di entrare in una WLAN criptata con WPA-PSK.
Con una precedente versione e dei driver e del subsystem, riuscivo.
IMHO, si tratta di un bug della 1.2.1.
Ora, non ho avuto il tempo di scrivere sulla ML di Intel dedicata allo sviluppo di tali driver, appena mi libererò lo farò.

intanto grazie per la risposta: ho provato a cambiare i driver ma non è cambiato nulla.

ho messo ipw2200-1.2.0 che è segnalata come STABLE sul sito ufficiale.

ho provato sia con eth2 che con eth1, ecco i dump in ordine

eth2 non funge proprio mentre con i driver vecchi qualcosa si muoveva su entrambe (eth1, eth2)

Scusami, insanet, ma ci sono alcune cose che non capisco nelle prove che stai effettuando.
Prima di tutto, che versione di wpa_supplicant utilizzi?
La precompilata di Pat (0.4.9) o i sorgenti (qui l'ultima release in ordine di tempo mi pare sia la 0.5.7).
Ora, premesso che il driver ipw non funziona, ergo devi utilizzare wext, se hai compilato da sorgenti wpa_supplicant, devi creare, all'interno della directory in cui hai fatto esplodere il tarball, un file .config più o meno simile al seguente, indi procedere alla compilazione:

E' semplice da usare e, cosa più importante, ti impedisce di tornare a Windows. :D

io uso wpa_supplicant di pat, ipw2200 del kernel 2.6.19.2
e riesco ad accedere al mio router con wpa-psk.

nel file di conf, ho messo anche scan_ssid nel blocco relativo alla mia rete,
e non ho messo ap_ scan.

iwconfig per capire qual'è l'interfaccia (eth0 nel mio caso) poi

sono passato al wpa_supplicant precompilato di pat come da voi suggerito e il driver wext --> si intravede la luce :)

in sostanza trova l'AP poi si associa e poi rilascia l'associazione,

e ciclia così insomma... scan-associating-associated-4wayhandshake-disconnected

su un forum di sviluppo ho letto che uno ha cambiato i valori per ap_scan e scan_ssid e da che stava nelle mie condizioni a che tutto ha funzionato.

ho provato 6 le permutazioni ap_scan=0,1,2 e scan_ssid=0,1 ma nulla è cambiato: cicla su connect -> disconnect.

Insanet anche io ho una ipw2200 e a me funziona benissimo con il WPA.
Io ho installato wpa_supplicant 0.4.9. Non è l'ultima versione ma è l'ultima testata da Pat e va benissimo. Per quanto riguarda le configurazioni ti posto un link: http://www.slacky.it/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17697

ho spento il portatile, l'ho fatto raffreddare e ho riprovato:

ho provato il metodo illustrato nel post che ha messo bart,

ma continua a non funzionare;

In questa parte relativa a rc.wireless.conf devi sostituire i primi due asterischi in base al MAC address della tua scheda. Il MAC lo ottieni con:

Prendi le prime tre parti del tuo MAC e modifichi quel file sopra che diventa qualcosa del tipo:
